EMMA CONSTANCE STONE
(1856-1902)
First woman Medical practitioner.
Despite being disqualified from studying medicine at Melbourne university, Constance stone was registered as a doctor in Victoria after having to gain her degree overseas. She and her sisters went on to set up the Queen Victoria hospital. At the time, one of only three hospitals for women in the world.
Wikipedia link: Ned Kelly:
Edward “Ned” Kelly (c. 1855 – 11 November 1880) is Australia’s most famous Bushranger, and, to some, a folk hero for his defiance of the colonial authorities. Ned Kelly was born north of Melbourne to an Irish convict father, and as a young man he clashed with the police. Ned had opportunities to become something in life. He was offered an apprenticeship as a stonemason. Following an incident at his home in 1878, police parties searched for him in the bush. After he murdered three policemen, the Colony of Victoria proclaimed Ned and his gang wanted outlaws. A final violent confrontation with police took place at Glenrowan. Kelly, dressed in home-made plate metal armour and helmet, was captured and sent to trial. He was hanged for multiple murder at Melbourne Gaol in 1880. His daring and notoriety made him an iconic figure in Australian history, folk lore, literature, art and film. On March 9 2008, it was claimed that Kelly’s burial site had been found by Australian scientists. Copied from Wikipedia.

Hello
My Favourite Book is the Hobbit. It’s a good book but it’s very long. I think you should read it because the characters are great: Bilbo the hobbit, Dwailin the Dwarf, Bailin, Oin, Gloin, Kili, Fili, Bombour, Bofir, Birfir, Thorin, Nori, Dori, Ori and Gandalf the wizard are all included in this book!
There are no sequels but there are some that are sort of in the series They are: Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, ” ” The Two Towers and ” ” The Return of the King.
there is a movie of the hobbit but it’s a cartoon. The Autor is J.R.R Tolkien but he died.
But mine doesn’t work?

What is federation?
Federation is when small parts of countries join together to become a country. An example is when Australia federated from different colonies to become one big country.
Who is involved in federation?
The governments of lots of countries. In Australia, the states that were involved were Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and Queensland.
When was federation in Australia?
It was in 1901.
Why did we want Australia to be united (between states?)
So we could have stronger armies, stronger defences and more food supplies. Also so that Australia could become one big country instead of lots of small colonies.

Convivt Life
Who where the convicts? They were people who had been arrested in Britain and because of the overcrowded jails, they moved people onto Ships and then the ships and the jails got overcrowded. To fix this Captain James Cook led an expedition to find ‘The great Southern land’ now known as Australia. The last part of this plan was then to move as many convicts as possible to ‘The great Southern land’. The people who were moved were the convicts.
What did they do all day? The convicts were sent to do what they did best; carpenter’s, servants, farmers, shepherds and so on. But if they were female, they were mainly kept in a prison until they were married off to someone and were then a wife and or mother.
When where convicts sent over? About Every 2 months a ship was sent over to NSW. About Every 5 months a ship was sent over to Norfolk Island. About Every 6 months a ship was sent over to Tasmania. About Every month a ship was sent over to Victoria.
Where work? They worked in the compound or the surrounding area or with a master.
Why did they get arrested? They were arrested for their crimes ranging from petty crime such as stealing a piece of cheese, through crimes such as murder.
